Prior to this latest venture, David was the Director of Programming for the AT&T Performing Arts Center where his work was described as “groundbreaking” for the Dallas performing arts community, creating and producing the Center's critically acclaimed "Elevator Project," a "game-changing" initiative designed to provide state-of-the-art performance space to local performing artists in the Dallas Arts District.

While at the Center David was responsible for the scheduling and curation of the acclaimed “Center Presents” series of over 200 performances of popular music, theater, comedy and special programming each year.
Notably, David created the Center’s “Off-Broadway on Flora” and "Elevator Project" series’, hailed as “Awesome” and “Adventurous” by TheaterJones.com and was one of the first in the country to present Michelle Obama on her inaugural book tour for #hearhere,  the Center's speaker series, resulting in the highest grossing event in the Center's history.

Previously, David spent two years with the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs where he oversaw the completion and grand opening of Dallas City Performance Hall (now Moody Performance Hall) a brand new 750-seat venue, in 2012. David also worked intimately with each of the City’s five multi-discipinary cultural centers and other managed performance arts venues including the Meyerson Symphony Center and The Majestic Theatre to increase opportunities for local artists and raise awareness among audiences.

As a theater director David’s work has been called “Relentless” and “Mesmerizing” (D Magazine) and his productions have been accused of taking “theater to a whole new level.” (Theaterjones.com). David is the former Artistic Director of Upstart Productions where he directed Sick F**k (“poetry” – Dallas Observer), The Aliens (“amazingly meticulous” – Art & Seek; “stage gold” – Culture Map) and Year of the Rooster (Best Director - DFW Critics Forum Award). Other favorite North Texas credits include The Realistic Joneses and All My Sons (“American theater at its finest.” – Art & Culture Magazine; “This is brilliant theater.” - The Dallas Examiner) for WaterTower Theatre; The Tragedy of Julius Caesar for Shakespeare Dallas (part of the AT&T Performing Arts Center’s “Complete Works” Series); Slaughter City, The Underpants, The Good Person of Setzuan, Hamlet (“Grade A” – Dallas Morning News), and [sic] for Southern Methodist University. David served as the Artistic Associate and resident Dramaturg at the Dallas Theater Center, where he worked on numerous productions including Pride and Prejudice directed by Stan Wojewodski, Jr; Des Moines by National Book Award winner, Dennis Johnson; and The Blonde, the Brunette and the Vengeful Redhead directed by Mark Lamos.

David is a founding member of the NYC based Anomalous Collective and received his BFA in performance from East Carolina University and his MFA in directing from Southern Methodist University.
